The history of NPS began in 1974 with Doug’s Janitor Service, when Doug was a junior in high school. He put to use the skills he had learned while helping his grandpa, who not only taught him practical skills but also instilled in him the value of hard work and the satisfaction of a job well done.

Motivated by a desire to focus on the more technical aspects of the industry and a passion for the science of cleaning, Doug renamed the business a few years later to Northwest Professional Services. The company’s first home was in one of the hangars at the Lynden Airport, a location that allowed Doug to combine his love for cleaning with his passion for flying. NPS operated out of that hangar for 20 years before moving to its current location on Birch Bay Lynden Road in 1994.

What began with just one truck in 1974 grew into a team of 26 employees and 23 vehicles by 2021. Over the years, NPS has experienced many blessings, built an incredible team, enjoyed the daily rewards of meaningful work, and developed lasting relationships with customers who have become like family.
